How can you tell your friends and about your breast cancer diagnosis?
Telling your friends and family about your breast cancer diagnosis can be stressful and it's a very personal matter. Everyone is different in who and how and they want to reveal their medical history to others. Some people don't mind sharing the information, some pick and choose who they want to share with and some decide not to tell anyone all. The choice is up ultimately up to you. In my case, I chose not to hide my diagnosis because usually am I am a very open person about things and I do tend to wear my heart on my sleeves, but I understand why others might want to reveal that information because there is so much uncertainty at hand; you might not have all the information yet, some people might want to shield themselves from unsolicited advice, and circumstances can change quickly, and many more reasons. Sometimes we need to time to process things. However you choose to reveal your diagnosis is up to you and will be right for you. In either case, others listening will need to not judge and hold empathy for you when and if you decide to share any information.
